Entry number 14 - Rain or Shine Enter Fairgrounds on north side at the Park Street entrance (Gate #1) from Ervin road down Park St, South off Balyeat Ave. Follow the road around race-track either way to south east side of Fairgrounds Stage at South East End of Van Wert Co Fairgrounds at warm up area (see staging map) [Parade route begins on Washington St at Balyeat proceeding north turning right on Gleason ending at Jubilee Park] Arrive no later than 4:00 p.m. at warm up area (Will start placing units on street at 4:30 p.m.) No Alcohol & No dropping off or parking of cars in staging area. (Peony Committee Rule) Will disperse lightweight raincoats in case of inclement weather Music - Playing "Disney Medley" Emergency Procedure- If you become ill or cannot continue to march, drop out of line and enter Band Van that is following unit. There is a two-way radio in van for communication to the President and Drum Major. Cell phone is also available along with Emergency Contact manual. Both Charles and Jim Brickner are EMT's. If problem is life threatening make sure that you gain the attention of the above ASAP for help! Uniform- Band issued new purple polo shirt and your own shorts meeting band specs: Style: dress; Color: sand; Length: 1-2" above knee. Please no cargo pocket shorts. Do not wear old band shorts (color too dark), all white shoes and socks, black belts, an all white; no logo baseball style hat is permitted (if you chose to wear one). (Wiping your shoes off with glass cleaner will make them bright white again!) Remember to tuck in your shirt! ENTRANCE TO FAIRGROUND Use North Gate 1 as the entrance. Vehicles can park in the grassy area on the north side of the old ball field near buildings. Recommend band members having someone drop you off since there is no transportation back to the fairgrounds. Members may also want to consider car-pooling with other band members in order not to have to walk back to fairground after parade. Note- Washington St. (127) will close at approximately 3:30 p.m. Directions from the South- Take US 127 North to SR 709 West to SR 118 North to the corner of Ervin Road, which is the 2nd traffic light in Van Wert, turn right onto Ervin to Park Street and turn Right. Gate 1 will be at the end of Park Street. Follow the road around race-track either way to staging area. Directions from the North- Take US 127 South turn Right onto Bonnewitz Avenue, turn Left onto North Jefferson Street to Main Street, turn Right to Shannon Street, turn left on Shannon to Ervin Road, turn left on Ervin to Park Street, turn Right on Park Street. Gate 1 will be at the end of Park Street. Follow the road around race-track either way to staging area. Rehearsals Saturday, May 31st, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. (Van Wert Middle School) [Percussion Sectional after Full band Rehearsal/work on cadences, if needed.] Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. (Van Wert Middle School) (PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS REHEASAL ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE COMMITTED TO THE PEONY PARADE, WHICH INCLUDES FLAG & BANNER CARRIERS) Next Scheduled Performance Spencerville Ohio Summerfest Parade on June 28th, 2008 @ 6:30 p.m. (CONFIRMATION & INFORMATION WILL FOLLOW ONCE COUNT IS CONFIRMED THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH MEMBERS TO PERFORM?)
