The Peacocks here at Husker Haven
I started out with one peacock and three peahens three years ago.
Today, I have six altogether, of which only three are hens. The birds
would not set on the eggs, so I bought an incubator and got three eggs
to hatch. All my original birds were the India Blues, I was very
surprised to see a fuzzy yellow chick come out of the egg. As the eggs
didn't all hatch when they should have, I decided to check some of them
out, to see what was going on. Of the eggs that I cracked open to check,
all had chicks in them, but I have no idea why they didn't hatch like the
others. The really strange thing is, I would say that 90% of the chicks
were white. I find that strange in that the parents were all of the blue
variety.
