  • This is Jarrett's fifth season driving the No. 88 Quality Care Service/Ford Credit Taurus and the 13th season as a driver on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit. He raced on a part-time basis from 1984-86. His first full season was in 1987.
  • Jarrett won the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Championship. He is one of only three Ford drivers to win the series championship since 1969.
  • Entering the 2000 season, Jarrett had collected 22 career Winston Cup victories (in 389 starts), seven career poles and career earnings in excess of $21 million. Two of those wins came on short-tracks. His first short-track win was in 1997 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
  • Jarrett's first career Winston Cup race was April 29, 1984 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. He started 24th and finished 14th. His first win (130th start) happened at Michigan International Speedway, Aug. 18 1991. His first pole (229th start) came during Speedweeks '95 at Daytona International Speedway - Feb. 11, 1995.
  • In 1995, Jarrett joined Robert Yates Racing while fellow driver, Ernie Irvan, recovered from life-threatening injuries suffered in August 1994 at Michigan International Speedway.
  • He debuted for Yates' new Quality Care/Ford Credit team in February 1996 by winning the Busch Clash and the famed Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway. This was his second Daytona 500 win ('93). Jarrett also finished a career-high third in the NASCAR Winston Cup championship point standings this same year.
  • Jarrett became the first Ford driver to win the prestigious Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1996. Also the first driver to ever win Daytona and Brickyard in the same year.
  • In 1998, Jarrett collected a $1 million Winston No Bull 5 bonus for his victory in the Winston 500 at Talladega.
  • Since he started to run a full season schedule in 1989, Jarrett has finished in the top five in the final point standings four times -- '93-fourth, '96-third, '97-second and '98-third.
  • Jarrett won two of the "Crown Jewel" races in 1996 (Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600), making him eligible for the Winston Million at Darlington, S.C. The Winston Million was a $1 million bonus from R.J. Reynolds for any driver that won three of four major superspeedway races in one season.
  • Before joining RYR, Jarrett drove for Joe Gibbs Racing from 1992-94. While teamed up with the former NFL coach, Jarrett collected two of his 18 career wins (Daytona 500, '93 and Mello Yello 500 at Charlotte, '94).
  • He competed in the 1994 International Race of Champions series; placed sixth overall on the strength of two third place finishes in the four-race series.
  • Jarrett began racing in 1977 in the Limited Sportsman Division at Hickory Motor Speedway where his father, two-time NASCAR champion Ned Jarrett, once was the track promoter.
  • Jarrett is considered one of the founding drivers for NASCAR's Busch Series, competing as a regular in 1982, the first year of the competition for this division. Since 1987, he has competed in a limited schedule of Busch events. Out of 323 starts (through 1999), he had collected 11 wins and 14 poles.
  • His son Jason is becoming the third-generation driver in the Jarrett family as he begins his own racing career in NASCAR's Busch Series.

  • National Spokesperson for the Disabled American Veterans - visits DAV hospitals across the country; filmed several public service announcements for the DAV's Transportation Network, in hopes to create a greater public awareness of this program and to enlist more volunteer drivers to help transport disabled veterans.

  • National Spokesperson for the Samaritan's Purse "Operation Christmas Child" - this project, led by Franklin Graham, aids children living in crisis areas of the world by collecting and distributing gift-filled shoe boxes to them in time for Christmas.

  • Sponsors and participates in the annual Dale Jarrett Lutheran Brotherhood Golf Tournament - this benefits the Lutheran Counseling Center in Hickory, N.C.
