History
The Lima Police Department's SWAT Team was formed, like many others in the county, in the early 1970's and was originally organized as an anti-sniper team. When first organized, the team had a wooden gun cabinet which was kept in a closet within the police department. All the members kept their equipment in this six by four foot cabinet. The majority of this equipment was purchased by the individual officer. Since then the Team has moved to a larger area and use modern and some high-tech equipment to assist them in operations.
