Technology Crimes Unit
The Lima Police Department Technology Crime Unit was originally created to gather evidence that involved computers. With the popularity cell phones, personal data devices, and other digital media the unit has expanded to cover a wide range of technologies. The Technology Crimes Unit currently consists of two members who are specially trained in the recovery of digital evidence and investigating a digital crime scene.
Criminals have been commiting the same crimes for centuries, but the tools they use to commit these crimes are always evolving. The Lima Police Department is commited to keeping the community safe, whether the crime occurs on the streets or in cyberspace.
The Technology Crimes Unit works in cooperation with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. They deal with crimes ranging from internet fraud to online stalkers and pedophiles.
The Lima Police Department Technology Crimes Unit is a member of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
